Unexpected Pregnancy Unexpected Results

The night I got pregnant nineteen and naive
I was on birth control and the condoms just kept breaking
so I said it's fine I'm on the pill, no worries, no problem, it's totally alright
It turned out to be a one night stand
nothing in common with each other besides our job where we had met each other
he was a charmer and I was a flirt young and stupid I now realize we both were
Two months later I got the news
two pink lines not faint at all they were clear and bold
there was no denying even though I stilled tried
at first it was utter disbelief then I fell to the floor and cried
my mind screaming in agony that this couldn't be happening not to me
I was on birth control right and it was only one night
it couldn't have lasted all that long
how could this have happened no the test has to be wrong!
Go to the doctors and it's hard to deny the test, the heartbeat, and the flutter on the screen
as the doctor explains to me you are about two months along based on your LPM and the ultrasound
congratulations, have you had any symptoms, go grab some pre-natals
I'll see you next month for another check up
as the doctor says all this my mind starts racing
I'm to young and I took precautions
then it dawns on me I have to tell him
but when I get to how to do it my mind draws a blank
he isn't any more ready than I am,
I tell other people and tell them to keep quiet
and then one day a girl accidentally let it slip
and as I heard it he got really sick
and almost passed out he had to go home
and soon I got a phone call
it was not pleasant what did I expect
it was a shock and I handled it all wrong
after that we weren't even friends
we couldn't get along at work
and so one day I did something more stupid than anything else so far
I told him the lie of all lies I said "the baby isn't yours"
and those four little words I regretted for almost a year
until one day I got up the nerve
and started to try to solve the problem that I had caused
and now today despite the stupidity and our age
we co-parent our precious little boy NIcholas
and I just can't help but smile because his dad stepped up to the plate for his son
and now he has two loving parents instead of just one
plus his Dad's girlfriend and his family and friends
and my friends and family too this kid is loved beyond all love
from sea to sea from ocean to ocean
beyond anything a naked eye could possibly see.
