The Darkness and the Light

Everything is darkness
It is all consuming
But even in darkness there is light

Even in my blackest hour
with every struggle
And with my every plight

Somewhere, always,
always will there be light

Burning brightly, burning strong
Always present, always bright

This black lurks in my shadow
Glancing over my shoulder
I ask myself repeatedly...
"Is it done. Is it over?"

The answer remains always no
And yet no longer do I hide
Instead I feel a light
A burning presence from inside

From sources unexpected
And a fire deep within
You may find this burning power
And with it never bend

If we reach forever forward
Then light we will always find
For there is only black, darkness,
and shadow if we look behind

As the sun is shining
And the moon still lights the night
Never will darkness consume us
If we find our source of light
