Alice comes between best friends.

Mike has been my best friend from the age of 9.  He lives two houses away in a Harris tract house just like ours.

We played catch, caught frogs, threw snow balls, and walked to Johnson Elementary School together.

Now we've gotten to High School.

Mike is going off the deep end over Alice.  I can't get him to see the light.

"She's a sunflower," Mike exclaimed.  "Can't you see that?"

"Well..." that was all I could get out before Mike shoved me to the ground.

I have my own question about what Mike couldn't see.

"Mike, it's not that Alice is ugly; far from it," I squeezed out.  "The problem is that she's a witch."

With that, good old Mike kicked me.  My friend kicking me!  What can you expect when a witch moves in?

How do I know, you ask?

Have you ever seen the smoke escaping from a power plant chimney?  A plant that burns coal?  Darkens even the brightest day.  That's what Alice does whenever she comes near.

She stole a robin's egg from it's nest, stuck a pin in it, and sucked out the contents.

Mike thought that a girl doing that was "cool".  Everyone knows that makes her a witch.

Please help me dear reader.  How can I show Mike what Alice really is?
