A poem about the blue-eyed beauty that stole my heart. |
(Note: the song "As Time Goes By" by Frank Sinatra is used at the end of the poem. I do not own the words or the song, they are copyright to the estate of Frank Sinatra.) I still remember those glorious days Though many months have gone by, When the angels sang And silver bells rang; When all of the souls On heaven and earth Stopped in amazement And stared at us, Longing, loving, just for a while; I remember your eyes in the sun, So many blues and greens, Is this really my memory? Was this all but a dream? And the colors of summer still remind me of you The grand sunset golds, the soft ocean blues I know you only did What you had to do. My only regret Is that you never knew Just how deeply I felt Those feelings for you. I’ll never forget that gleam in your eyes The way they lit up on that very first night When I told you I loved you, and I told you I cared And that incredible kiss You and I got to share. You were so overjoyed, You kicked off those pink heels And asked me to give to you Those romantic chills. You jumped in to my arms, And put your eyes dead in to mine. You brushed your lips so close And I was completely mesmerized. And I’ll never forget when you told me it was through, The worst day my dark mind Ever, ever knew. I fell to the ground, And asked the Lord why All I could muster Was a silent gentle cry. Does a man ever give up On that which he loves? Will he ever stop fighting For the girl that he loved? I still feel the same way I did when you did, And I think you do too And on some hazy day, I’ll find you again When you’re lost and confused And you and I Can start our love anew. And I recall the words that were playing The moment I made you mine… "It's still the same old story, A fight for love and glory, A case of do or die… The world will always welcome lovers, As time goes by…" |
