A poem about my winter sun holiday, in Portugal :)
Christmas in Portugal

Up, up and away we fly,
Up in to the cold night sky.
Above the clouds in to the night
Above damp England
The stars shine bright.

Whilst in my hometown
The bells ding dong merrily,
Collecting shells
On the beach
You will find me.

The sun shines bright
On my welcoming skin –
The warmth
I covet
And hold within.

Fur coats and hats
Give way to bikinis
Sundresses,
Sun cream
And strawberry Daquiris.

Up, up and away we flew
Up to where the cold wind blew,
Descending down in to the night
Behind the darkness
The sun shone bright.

Now in my house
Battered by rain
The windows are shut,
Frost snakes
Round the pane.

Yet I’m far away –
Christmas in Portugal.
My windows are open,
Of sun
I am full.
