A tribute to our military personell |
The American Soldier By Teresa Blakely I can still see you and your brother when you were 6 and 3 Playing soldiers outside with your friends in the tall grass It must be a man's natural instinct to protect those they love Our grandfather's, father's, uncle's, brother's and cousins did so. It's like a mother when she wants to protect her children You will do anything to protect them Even if you need to put on that uniform to protect your child To be miles, months and years away from them. So you put on the uniform of choice I can see it in your eyes how proud you are doing it You want to make a difference in this world Protect this great country you live in. At all cost, you do what you must Even things that are against your beliefs But you are a soldier of God, who fights evil To protect those who can not do otherwise Even for those who don't understand why you do it. You believe in your country, your family, and your God This great nation who gives us the freedom You are an American soldier and proud to be. You don't ask for anything in return just respect And a simple thank you from others You give so much for so little in return. I salute you the American soldier who gives of himself Although his cost is high, to be away from family But you want to know that they are protected And you gladly take the job. To the American Soldier, forever grateful I shall be I'm so proud to say that my family has served this great nation For generation's past and present I salute you....... |
