My life lived mostly by the ocean would change |
I once lived in a place by the oceans deep. I found joy and beauty there by the sea. Recalling the poem of a girl, "Annabel Lee." A girl like me who loved a playful melody; Of crashing waves and seagull harmonies The rhythmic ocean playing songs for me With distant sounds of a fog horn at noon; To the ocean symphony playing its tune. I read about lakes, ponds, and rivers afar: Mountain streams, flowing creeks, and stars. One day I'd travel from my scenic shores, Not knowing I would discover so much more. I found creeks, noisy waterfalls, and beyond. Conquered mountains, fears, and I carried on. Nature's song through the trees, say I belong. With all of these wonders I bestow a calm, When I think of the ocean's healing balm. Like a jealous lover's clinging arms, I know, Keeps calling me to its side, I long to go, To gaze upon the place where sailors glide; Or shrimp boats and laughing seagulls collide; Children build sand castles in the hot sun; Playing on the waves for this is all in fun. When it's all said and done I will cherish it all, The majestic mountains that stand so tall; To the trickling sound of the flowing creeks, I know I'll always come back to the place, Where people relax at a lingering pace. The air smells like salt, the boats rumble by, There are kites flying high up in the sky. Then a carnival quickly sets up nearby. This has been my walk to and from the sea My walk back again if your following me. I love the ocean, I love iits salty smells; Even the smell of fish that is sold in pails. I love it all, the mountains and the sea. I find its all wholesome and pleases me. Away from my sea I continue to roam, Follow my path till the sun brings me home. |
