True Self

Another about my battle with my mind vs. the world. Originally posted 2006.

Why is it so frightening to show my true self
to be all that I am instead of someone else?
Wouldn’t it be great if everyone actually knew?
I wonder if they did, exactly what they’d do.
How would they react to someone socially unacceptable?
Would they tell me I’m confused? Would they go into denial?
Maybe someday, they’ll realize the truth that is me.
Perhaps some day I’ll be myself and shock everybody!
