How the Tribes came to be. |
Many, many, seasons ago before the Tribes were formed the Forest was ruled by an evil cat who went by the name Queen. Queen was a small black and grey she-cat with a blood red collar that was once pure white. She was mean, demanding, and very cruel with a large group of cats who followed her every command without question. She ruled over all cats who came into her territory with an iron claw. Her 'kingdom' was a large cave in a tall mountain. After a long Dead Leaf that left half the 'kingdom' starving and the other half gone to the stars, six brave cats rose against Queen. The rest of the cats followed the six into battle, all annoyed with putting up with their tyrant leader's abuse. In the end Queen and her followers were defeated but there were also many casualties for the cats who rebelled. A quarter of the population was lost along with one of the brave cats. That night there was a huge mourning ceremony in honor of the ones who died in the Retaliation, which the battle came to be called. The next day the dead were buried and that night the five remaining leaders had a dream. It was a prophecy spoken in Queen's voice. 'On the night of a full moon. A darkness will rise. With it will come an age of despair and terror.' A vision of a full moon setting blocked by a cat sits facing the rising full moon. They can't see the color of the cat before there is a flash of red and cats yowling in terror. But then a flash of silver light appears and the words are spoken by Moth. 'But light will also rise to counter the dark. Only then will the reign of Queen truly end.' Five cat shaped forms stand shoulder to shoulder in a line facing a rising sun. The vision fades and Moth appears. Moth was the leader who gave her life to defeat Queen. She stands facing left. In front of her and facing her was Queen. Moth stood head held high and on a grass covered circle, glowing with a silvery light with stars in her pelt. Queen stood in a crouch, looking ready to pounce on a dead grass covered circle, glowing with a red light with a see-through pelt. Behind both she-cats stood the cats who gave their lives in the battle. Queen's cats also had a see-through pelt while Moth's cats had stars shining in their pelts. Queen and her dark cats fade in a dark cloud as Moth and her star cats disappear in a blinding silver flash of light. "I'll get my revenge," Queen's voice growls before she fully fades. "I'll be watching over you all from the stars," Moth's voice mews before she disappears. The five Retaliation leaders then wake up. They talk with the remaining cats and decide to leave the mountain cave where they had been living. After a moon of preparation and healing the cats make the journey down the mountain, for most, for the first time. After a day's walk the cats reach the bottom of the mountain and rest. The next day they continued away from the mountain, which came to be called Forbidden Peak. A half a day's walk later the cats found a large area of forests, a lake, rivers, and a moor. The area surrounding it was steep hills and a Nofur camp. On the moor was a small group of horses and an abandoned Nofur den. In the center of the forest was a large hill with a tunnel leading to a large cave in the center. It was lit some smaller less pronounced holes near the top of the cave. The cave was very large and had enough space for all the cats to fit in with plenty of space to play and lay around. For the next few months the cats stay in the cave. During the time in the cave the five Retaliation Leaders decided that they would make their own groups. Their names, at the time, were Warrior, Blue, Prince, Blade, and Twilight. Which were given to them by Queen as kittens. As all kittens born under her rule were named by her. In fact Prince was her only kitten and was turned against her by her horrible treatment of his friends. They decided to change their names to rid themselves of Queen's claim. Warrior became Storm, Blue renamed Pool, Prince chose Shadow, Blade known as Wind, and Twilight called Moon. As they discussed plans and ideas for their future groups a loner turned up in the territory near the hill. He never told his name but was known as Loner. Loner told of his many adventures and tales of other cats that lived in groups. Clans they were called. The description of the Clans gave the five ideas of what to do for their own groups. After a quarter moon Loner left on his continued journey to east. After a lot of talking, planning, and arguing the five agreed on Names, Positions, Symbols, and many other things for their new groups called Tribes. |
