Summary of this DVD... | ||
This movie is very loud and screechy. It is John Barrymore and Carole Lombard. He's a big Broadway producer who discovers her. He's very theatrical and over the top and he grooms her to be just like him. She gets too big for her boots and leaves him and goes to Hollywood. She becomes a big star while he is on the way down, avoiding his creditors. He goes on the train called The Twentieth Century and runs into her as they are going cross country. They overact and screach and scream at one another. That gets a little tiresome, but it is funny too. I am not sure I would watch it again, but it was interesting to see this screwball comedy of the early 1930's.
This type of DVD is good for...
anyone who is interested in Lombard's career.
I especially liked... | ||
Lombard. Barrymore is too much of a ham for me.
When I finished viewing this DVD I wanted to...
maybe not watch too many more that have John Barrymore in them.
I recommend this DVD because...
if you like to watch screwball comedies where the male and female overact and screech at each other, this one's for you!
