Rosie McClendon summons the will to leave her husband out of nowhere, leaving behind her life and all her possessions. But her husband's a police officer- a dangerous police officer- and it's through the assistance of an odd painting and what it means for Rosie herself that she finally gets rid of him and his evil for good, and learns the true power of herself.

Everyone who's capable of handling graphic content and despite its potential to trigger someone, I think it's good for people who have been through abuse, to see someone be able to fight back.

The painting and what happens within it, as well as Rosie's escape and subsequent journey.

The very ending felt a little bit tacked on to me.

Reread it. It's my second favorite Stephen King book, and that says something, because I like a lot of his work.

Everything along with Rosie, the main character. I could relate a lot to her and what happens to her.

He is great at detailed descriptions that don't shy away from what's happening on the page.

It's an amazing book about someone managing to leave an abusive relationship and I think it rang very true to what it feels like to get out of one, even besides the fantastical elements to the storyline.
