I think this a great essay written in first person. The motorcycle theme reminds me of s. E. Hinton's book, Rumblefish. I especially like the connection between the man, the region, and the bike. Your feelings described feel genuine to me, and you have an appealing writing style. I would to see it applied to fiction with dialog. Great work!
This a great poem because I think it reflects the loving little girl you were. I think this poem also reflects the relationship fortunate children have with their grandparents. Well done!
I like this fine example of expository writing. Aligators have it rough because they are one of the few apex predators that is in close proximity of people in the lower 48 states. As a species, they may never be treated properly. Your writing is clear, crisp, and to the point. Well done.
Although I know little about poetry, I would like to share my thoughts with you. This poem smacks of realism and it has a feeling of despair to me. I think it nicely captures the idea that "a book should never be judged by it's cover. As I read your poem, I thought of the book, Rumblefish, by S.E. Hinton. I encourage you to keep writing.
I read through your fairy tale a couple of times, and I think it is a great little story. I have no comments to offer about writing mechanics other than a spelling error in the following sentence: "Bealla felt so helpless." The name Bella is a bit too familiar because of the Twilight series, but I think it is an excellent name choice because of the beauty of the princess character. I thought you made great name choices throughout and I liked your use of colors. My only criticism is that I simply wish you had written a longer story, but I can see how it would make a great illustrated short-storty book for kids. Well done!
It is interesting to see writer and reader preferences. I think more questions about why participants select their favorites would make the poll more meaningful. Why are fairies most popular? Why are Gremlins least popular? I encourage to build upon this good start.
I think this is a great essay because you put the writing of the Grimm Brothers into an historical context. I didn't ever bother to think about why they were writing the fairy tales or about the impact of the French on their culture. I also like how you dealt with the two examples of Snow White and Cinderella. I wonder if you would like new fairy tales that dare to compete with these great classics.
I think this is a great little analysis because it explains how the versions are similar and different. I think Disney did a great job of always having their princess characters connected to nature with animal friends.
