Lord, this is wonderful. You, my man, have a God-given TALENT!!! What else can I say? Your father would, or would have loved it. I look forward to many quiet hours visiting your portfolio. Thank you for a great read. George D.

Perfect! Not a single misspelling or lapse of good grammar was detected. A vivid account of the mother of all nightmares. Are you English? Write on!

Nicely stated. Finding true love is indeed a blessing that is not bestowed upon all. I count myself lucky. This year I celebrate my 56th wedding anniversary with the girl of my dreams. Thanks for sharing.

Scary, and actually believable! People can sometimes be borderline psychotic when they first reach adulthood. I know because I was one of them. Well written. No grammatical errors or misspellings noted.

Lovely! Strictly speaking, "lay" in the next to last line should read "lie", but the meaning is clear.

This is an intriguing account of love lost. I won't comment on the possibilities, but I give it 5 stars for human interest. There were a few grammatical and logical errors. For example, "which one of us would die first, her or me" could be better expressed simply as "which one of us would die first."
All told, a powerful first entry to the WDC site. Welcome aboard!

Beautiful! Expresses my own feelings exactly. It was in last night's news that bunkers for America's political elite are being prepared during the present COVID19 pandemic, in case the nation is attacked and destroyed by a massive nuclear assault. The nations of the world MUST change their ways, or else ...

Thanks for sharing. Your portfolio is truly remarkable in volume and quality. I will certainly revisit it many times.

Gruesome as intended. I guess I didn't know Mr. Hyde was so thin-skinned. Keep on venting! Eventually the sun will shine.

Ah, yes, who hasn't had a Teddy Bear at some time in their life? I'd love it if you'd write a companion piece on the history of the Teddy. As always, your commentary is well written and a pleasure to read, even in this off-Christmas season. Only one glitch spotted: "He doesn't even a burn mark..." should read "He doesn't even have a burn mark..."? Thanks for sharing a much deserved appreciation of what is probably the granddaddy of all gifts to the small fry (and sometimes to the not so small). Wishing you a happy St. Patrick's day, Old George.

I read "Never Push Over a Tombstone," and was indeed disturbed by the outcomes. Not bad. A few errors. For example, in the opening paragraph "...it must true" should probably read "...it must be true." Keep writing. And it can never hurt to carefully proofread your work before adding it to your portfolio. Best regards, George Dixon.

for entry "The Moon and MeOpen in new Window.

This piece captures the many facets of the moon. The minor of God's lights has inspired songs, poems and literary works since the dawn of humanity. When I was young I memorized and played Debussy's "Claire de Lune," to the great amazement and admiration of the girl I was courting and who became my wife. One of my favorite songs is "Moon River." As always, a pleasure to read your blogs. I give it 5 stars. George.

I loved this poem. In my mind (and perhaps in yours) it's a metaphor for girls who aren't rock divas or poster-pretty. An excellent message to young men who are thinking about marriage. Thanks for sharing.

This is one of the most touching accounts I have ever read about the loss of a loved one. My wife and I celebrated our 55th anniversary last December, and every day I say a silent prayer that I go first. I don't know if I could make it without her. Thanks for sharing such a private period in well-constructed and readable prose. George Dixon.

Review of Paradise Island  Open in new Window.
Review by George Author IconMail Icon

I fell in love with Paradise Island as I read this piece. I was also impressed with your plans to self-publish 3 books. I did the same with 2 novels. I used Lulu Publishers (www.Lulu.com) with great success. I was able to upload a Word file, and to use their cover design utility, and received two beautiful books promptly. My novels didn't contain any illustrations, but I imagine these could be included in a Word file. Good luck! George Dixon, author/publisher of "Fiddler Crabbe" and "Thinker."

Excellent free verse. Uses English, the language of poetry, to evoke cherished images of harvest time. Good luck with your education, and many thanks for your service in the Salvation Army (one of our favorite charities). Reminds me of "Special Time," my own take on the time of harvest in one's life.

Lovely sentiments. We are on the same wavelength in so many ways. As for what sets us apart, I would say that science/physics is my mantra. I believe that it is the language of the world, and reflects a desire to listen to God for guidance. You are an excellent writer, and amazingly prolific. Writing clearly gives you great pleasure and comfort ... especially when executed in English, the language of poetry.

A good article on psychosis. You write well. I enjoyed this one and the "quit smoking" one. I used to be a 2-pack a day man, but quit cold turkey the night before my wedding 55 years ago. That was the second best thing I ever did for myself. The best was when I married the girl! Write on. George.

Very interesting. WDC has come a long way since the original Stories.com! (Yes, I was there more or less at the beginning.) You've become a super venue for aspiring writers of every kind.

Excellent! Many thoughts to ponder. The technique of asking profound questions, while admitting that you can only speculate about the answers, induces the reader to join you in seeking solutions to some of life's deepest mysteries. You are a philosopher of the first rank. Thanks for sharing. George Dixon.

That's exactly what you're doing. You've got a style. Amigo. This reminded me of my own poem, "Purpose." Keep 'em coming. I always enjoy reading your stuff. Best, George.

Written like a true homeless man. It reminds me of a poet and vagabond soul I knew in my youth. Your poem provides insight for all who are lucky enough to have a place they can call "Home." Keep on sharing your wisdom. Best, George Dixon.
