First episode of i hope a series on vampire hunters in 17th centuary europe
Norman crouched down in the shadows.
He tenderly felt his left ribs, the shirt was torn and damp. he brought his hand to his face and could smell the blood. The bluring at the edge of his vision became worse as he rose. If he could smell the blood then so could they.
Stumbling back out in to the moonlight street clutching his sword, he began to make his way to the meeting point. Not for the first time he cursed the Captians decision to come to Prauge.
In the distants he could hear the screams of the house he had just left, he had gotten the information need but it chaffed him that so many had had to die so he could make good his escape.
Slipping into another dark alley way he sensed rather than saw the creature in the shadows. Jumping back he bearly avoided being evicerated by dagger sized claws. lashing out with his sword he caught the creature a glancing blow to its sholder, the creature bellowed in rage and stepped forward into the moon light. It was enormous, standing almost eight feet tall, its arms hung simien like to its knees, and each sported claws at least six inches long from the stumps, were hands would of been. it was covered in matted hair and its legs doubled back much like a canines. But its eyes drew Normans attention. They were black holers in a face vaguley human but distorted and appeared much like a pigs. Tusks protruded from its mouth.
It cried out once again and lounged at Norman. Norman expecting this rolled to his left, and slahed out with his sword, severing the creatures hamstring. Suddenly the creatures cry of blood lust turned to fear as it was lamed.
Norman stalked the creature making sure to stay beyond the reach of its claws, a whisling behind him alerted him to the fact that the constables were on their way. As the creature turned to face the new sound Norman lounged taking it in the throat. As it gurgled and thrashed in its death throws, Norman steeped closer and with a two hand blow severed its head from its shoulders, in an instant the creatures body turned to a chocking black dust.
Norman staggered back he had agrevated the wound to his side and had wasted time killing this creature. But as he heard the constables aproaching he spared a moment to the thank the Lady that the Lords that made these beasts had derived them from vampries and that their bodies where so easily disposed of.
Ducking in to the Alley he continued on his way. An hour or so later Norman found himself outside a roundown tavern on the far side of the river. He was bearly concious he was slowly bleeding out and knew he needed help with in the next hour.
Knocking the code on the door, he was confronted by Kudumu. Kudumu was an african who had come into the captains service a few years before Norman, and beyond his name he never spoke to any one other than the captain. despite his usually frosty attitude Norman was glad to see him.
Kudumu mearly looked at his injuries before turning and leading him to the main hall. Inside, the Captain stood over the main table studing a map. Arrayed around the room were the company, black hearted murderers, scoundrels and thieves the lot of them. Coming to stand before the captain he soluted and placed the small note he had been carrying on the table. He then slowly toppled over as he finaly slipped into unconciousness.
