Letter to the editor when I was 23 inspired by my children

How do we raise children
In a world where mothers are killing their babies
And children are killing their parents
A world where babies are having babies
And everybody is doing it
A world where prejudice is still very much alive and kicking
Where murderers and rapists are set free
And victims are sentenced to a life of fear
Where the justice system has become a three-ring circus
And you can watch it all on a talk show.

A world during the era of the dysfunctional family
And the reign of the corrupt government
Where churches are no longer sacred
And schools are no longer safe
A world where our children must be armed
NO...not with guns or knives
But with strong morals and values
A solid sense of self and respect for others
A world where we raise our children
One day at a time with discipline and love.
