A Children's short story, that shows how sometimes imagination can fix everything. |
"This is just my luck, the one week the carnival is in town, and we have the chicken pox." Sarah proclaimed as she crossed her arms across her chest. Her mother had promised her and her twin sister all month they would go to the carnival. The had been well behaved all month, they even did chores so they could go. "Mrs. Patterson is in the kitchen doing her crossword puzzle, shes going to watch you girls while I go to the store. Be good for her, no funny business, and ill be back within the hour." Mother than kissed both the girls on the tops of their heads, picked up her purse, and walked out the door. "I wish we could go to the carnival, I'd give anything!" Samantha said whining to Sarah "Me too, but we would need some sort of miracle for that to happen." Just as Sarah was about to finish her sentence, they both started to hear a strange noise. Both of them started to smell fresh popcorn and cotton candy. Just as both girls began to think they were going crazy, a bar had come from over the couch and crossed their laps. Both girls looked at each other in a state of shock. But before either of them could make a noise the couch began moving all around the living room just like a scrambler. The girls put their hands up to the sky and started yelling with glee. As the girls were being tossed around one side to the other, they heard mothers foot steps coming up the walk way. What were they going to do? Mother would flip if she walked in to see the couch flying around the living room like a hot potato! Mother placed her keys in the door, turned the handle and walked into the house. She walked over to both her daughters asleep on the couch, covered them with a blanket and proceeded into the kitchen where Mrs. Patterson was doing her puzzle. "I hope the girls weren't much trouble for you. I know at times they can be quite the handful!" She handed Mrs. Patterson a cup of tea, and stopped in her tracks. "Mrs. Patterson, did you make cotton candy and popcorn?" |
