Wall Street's crashed but my dream lives on! An entry into Country Music Lovers Contest |
If it wasn't for bad luck, I'd have not a bit. This was proven to me when my world turned to shit. It's not all that far from the top of the heap down to the gutter – it's a small push or leap. There wasn't much left after the Wall Street crash. My house and a car and some savings in cash. Between lawyers and family and just plain old greed what little was left went with amazing speed. Refrain When you feel that your life has gone outta control and there's no place to hide when you're losing your soul then it's time to pick up your lures and your pole and find peace on earth at the old fishin' hole. What few dollars remained were soon under duress and sucked into a black hole called the "I.R.S." By the time all the leeches had sucked up my blood, I was left with five dollars and my dog named "Bud". Well, the last of the money just got up and went, It's just me and the dog by a stream in a tent. I invested in K-Mart, I blew the whole roll on a three dollar and ninety five cent fishing pole. Refrain When you feel that your life has gone outta control and there's no place to hide when you're losing your soul then it's time to pick up your lures and your pole and find peace on earth at the old fishin' hole. There's fish on the fire and Bud at my feet - with food and a friend, my life is complete. It just came to me, sitting here by this stream, you're extremely rich when you're living your dream. Refrain When you feel that your life has gone outta control and there's no place to hide when you're losing your soul then it's time to pick up your lures and your pole and find peace on earth at the old fishin' hole. Notes Prompt: "The Old Fishin' Hole" THE PROMPT MUST BE THE TITLE OF YOUR SONG and can be included within the song itself. Thank you for taking time to read and (hopefully) share a chuckle. Please, take a few minutes more and leave a comment - reactions, criticisms, praise are all equally welcome Ken |
