In a recent survey by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press, stated that 87% of major demographic and political groups think the press gives too much attention to celebrity and their scandals.
When the people were asked who was to blame for the excessive news on celebrities the results were astonishing. Out of the people who believe celebrity news are over covered 54% say news organizations are the ones to blame for primarily focusing on celebrity subjects. A third (32%) say the public is to blame for paying so much attention to them, and only 12% say both the media and the public are equally responsible.
