A poem on how love compares to a rollercoaster...well it does. |
Love is a like rollercoaster Waiting for your turn Wondering why it takes so long Seeing those before you taking the ride Their faces excited, worried, or petrified Those butterflies bouncing, those palms sweaty and slick Making you wonder why of the rollercoasters, this is the one you had to pick The slow incline will have your hands up, your smiles free But the speeding fall down, has your heart leap up into your throat Those bumps and loops, that upside down twist Makes your stomach knot and your eyes grow big The fear of flying off without some way to stop Of getting hurt with no way to protect yourself Riding free, no control with someone else at the lever Faster you go the wind in your face, tears at your eyes A rush of danger, you ignore the fear knowing that when it ends You’ll ride again Slower now, the thrill stops here Ready to get out the seat, yet waiting to try again More and more, you’ll take the plunge The excitement wearing thin, its splendor fading fast Leave the site, don’t turn back Find another rollercoaster ride Its twists, its turns, those loopy loops The high, the lows you know you’ll feel A new journey, a new thrill Your eyes wide, but no danger you feel Listening to the others saying, “Sit right here” They’ll lock you in, no way out To climb that mountain or the space above No breathe, no air at the top you’ll find Wishing now you’d been left behind A moment perched on the edge Seeing life so small, ants abed Then, whoosh you’ll go Your shriek not heard Partner beside you, holding for dear life Upside down, left side twist Holding hands, wishing you could end this But at last this new ride will stop Your legs shaking, your heart tripped Surviving this somehow, you do not know Hand in hand you’ll walk away The adventure left behind But you’ll remember the fun it was Because your love is by your side Making your own rollercoaster ride |
