A ditty to restart the contact with writing .com after a break |
Well, here we are again my friends I've been away for a while But now I'm back to make amends and maybe cause you to smile. When last I wrote here in the Realms of poets and writers elite We lived in a huge house without any elms in a new suburban street Windswept with views to far flung hills Double glazing heated floors and gas 4 bedrooms, internal access garaging And lawns with clover and grass But now my dears we've moved away The countryside's our home With stables, horses, fresh mown hay We will no longer roam We are not of the farming fraternity We simply rent our place I wouldn't know anything about animal maternity To mount a horse from the lefthand side but which way should one face? Our cottage is small our belongings were many We recycled and took to the dump Our neighbours are through the back wall So we whisper when we get the hump No garage in this rural retreat Outside our cars can be seen When frosts descend upon us We scrape the ice from the screen The best use I have found so far For a credit card out of date Is to scrape the ice from the screen of the car In 5 minutes if you are running late It takes half an hour to get to work And three quarters of an hour to drive home A coffee helps to wake us up Fingers too cold to press a dome We've almost settled in right now Just eight boxes remain in the lockup Hopefully we'll bring these in to the house As long as we do not muckup Trying to squeeze into the house the detritis of a lifetime of living together Has been a challenge that we were dreading but blow me down with a feather! We've done it now and from here on in. The going should get easier I read in the paper the other day that the next few months will be breezier So watch this space for further news Of Suzy and John in the country Now that the internet is all hooked up The words can start to flow free. |
