Resolute in their own unhappiness
they walk the solemn path
Only some know where they are going
but they all still travel.
Grief is the sun and misery the moon.
They will all be in a state of neither day nor night – soon.
We all trudge along like monks,
who have taken a vow of silence.
For some, their path is banked and
flanked by an endless forest.
And others see a desert stretching into the distance.
Will this road bring me my salvation
or will I sink further still?
I imagine that in truth – it will all amount to nil.
