Dear Me

Dear Me:

Since this is the first time I am writing a letter to myself, I am not totally sure what I am going to do, and what I am going to say.  Because I know myself so well, I plan to be straightforward and call it the way it is.  I am going to go right to the crux of the situation.  Here is the situation-  We have just embarked in a new year, 2011.  We hope that during this year, things may change and be different. I am hoping that in the upcoming year, 2011, that I learn to write better and more proficiently.  I hope that I can submit items to various places for contests.  I am hoping that by the end of the year, I may become published. 

First though, the content of my writing needs to become better and stronger.  I need to learn how to outline my thoughts and then cycle back to put them into narrative. I need to learn to write in the first and third person easily.  I need to learn to define and outline my characters throughout my piece of writing.

Next, I need to be able to come up with a conflict or story line and see that through.  Then I have to wrap around and come to a conclusion or finish my story.

All of these things are challenging, because they are not things that I currently do in my job in real life.  These are things that I have wanted to do and aspired to do, but have not necessarily went out and tried to aquire.

This is what is challenging and scary, to embark on this avenue and to begin this new course of study and committment.
