A host of feelings surrounding the colour blue. |
Today, I am blue. Blue as the sea, stretching so far, Reaching to the horizon, where the world ends. I seek the furthest stretches, knowing not when to stop, Heart running on, finding no place to rest. I am the smiling, glistening, welcoming turquoise Of a shallow tropical sea, Warm, peaceful, carefree and happy. I am the angry, churning, spitting grey Of an unending northern storm, Cold, harsh, untamed and in pain. I am the deep, rare, wondrous blue Of a cold but sun-blessed ocean, Proud, defiant, unexpected and joyful. Today I am blue. Blue as the sky, wide beyond measure, Covering all the world, in its rich variety. I fly free into the sunlight, perilous and fearless, A world of mystery, dreams and hope. Mighty as the condor, gliding on the mountain wind. Strong as the swan, flapping through the sky. Fast as the peregrine, swooping after its prey. Sharp as the gannet, piercing the sea. Determined as the tern, on its endless journey. Safe as the starling, in the midst of a swarm. Delicate as thistle down, hanging in the air. Doomed as a sycamore seed, spinning for the ground. Helpless as a grain of pollen, carried on a breeze. Today I am blue. A gentle blue of happy days in the sun. A rich blue of loyalty and pride. A grey-blue of hard times and battles fought. A delicate blue of things beautiful but easily shattered. A cold blue of times barren and alone. A bright blue of joyful gatherings of friends. A dark blue of solemness and austerity. A pale blue of tears still falling. A deep blue of calm and confidence restored. Today I am blue. |
