Maybe not all tall tales are so fake after all. |
In the moonlit night, while all were asleep While no sound was heard, not a whimper or peep They arose out of nowhere sweeping through the clouds They flew on their own, they had no bounds With shimmering scales and wide open wings Dragons soared through the sky taking valuable things Gold and jewelry and antiques went away In a flash so were the dragons, leaving dirt and clay The town cried over their loss, no hope could be found But then they heard a strange little sound A woman walk over and found a baby dragon by the trees All curled up and cold, it would surely freeze She took it up and set it in her arm "As long as you're young, you can't do any harm." So she took the young one into her home And found a nice place right by the phone The next day in the hot summer heat She went in the yard in her bare feet Dragons were again in the air Making the wind blow through her hair She held up the child and they came to a halt She said, "Take your child and admit your fault!" The golden dragon said to her "Creature with no scales or fur" "You are brave to stand up to me For I am their leader you see Take this scale atop my head And all will be done and said" She took the scale and gave the child The dragons flew in the air making wind more mild They flew back to their dragon's den And never went to that town again So you may ask how I know what I say Well I will tell you if I may The young woman is still alive, you see She is right here, she is me After the dragons flew away They never came back sense that day I went across the world with boat and sail Just to tell my wondrous tale Loving the dragons for honesty I chose to sail across the sea I had told my tale , but not tall No one believed me, no one at all They said things like "Prove it! We don't believe you!" And "Go away with your tales not true" I looked all around for someone less wild But no one would listen, no one but a child "I'll listen," she said. "I'll listen to you." So I told my tale, short and true "I know that story, twas told by my mother." "How?" I asked. "When there was no other?" The little girl stepped back and gave me a smile For she turned to a dragon, it was her all the while! With small golden scales, just like the babe I knew it was her, the one I had gave "I remember you, you are the lady who gave me to Mother when I was a baby I listened to you, now listened to me I've run away, please give me sanctuary." So I took the child back to my home For it was just me and her alone I bathed her and fed her and cared for her to Like she was my own, my child I knew Now you may wonder why I tell you this I tell for your safety, that's what it is Whenever someone has told you a tale You might want to listen to the wandering one frail by Dragon_Creator |
