A parody of the song 1985. |
This is a parody of the song 1985 by the band SR-17, though the most well-known version is undoubtedly by Bowling for Soup. The original song came out in 2004 and was a reflection on how much pop culture had changed since the 1980s with plenty of references to both past and present pop culture, especially music. The song also commented on the recent fascination among young people with 1980s culture which was just starting to be considered classic. I wrote this parody to comment on the fact that a similar phenomenon is happening right now with 1990s culture. Other similar parodies exist on the internet, but none compared pop culture with much depth, so I wrote my own. Writing credits must be shared with the original songwriters Mitch Allan, John Allan and Jaret Reddick.
