My ideas of the instruments created by man in the series, The Spires of Arlia.
It has always been my belief as a god fearing individual that heaven and hell are real, but they are projections of our sub consciousness. I believe much differently than the standard christian in that man created both sub dimensions of our reality through application and practice of our beliefs. What I am saying is that we exist simultaneously in all three planes of reality. Predominantly we find ourselves on earth, a physical dimension. However, residual energy from either good or evil will sometimes create a rip in the fabrics of the barriers and heaven or hell spill forth. Hauntings are a good example of this. In loose terms, heaven and hell exist in us, they are not material sub dimensions, but rather a focused source of energy that emits itself through our actions.

In the world of arlia, an earth like world, heaven and hell are seperated by man made engines buried beneath the two spires of arlia, ecclesia and lokken. In turn these engines exist alternately in the other planes, and rather than seperating them from arlia, they power its existence. They are not steam, or fire, or fuel powered but rather by the fabric of human spirits.

In a sense, both devices are of wicked creation, but are essential to arlias being.

In this series, we learn that arlia and heaven are both extensions to hell, and were engineered by both man and daemon. Arlia itself as well as its inhabitants were a gift from Azaal (the devil) to his wife, Azul (god). Meaning that man in my series are daemons and the creation of the devil. Azaal created them as a mortal race to power these engines. Meaning that in their death, their spirit is released as a fuel for the machinery. Their life is but a process of refining their spirits to a more powerful energy.

Heaven was created for exhausted spirits to return to the earth as another form of life. This in turn begins the process of life over again.
