A poem about being judgemental |
Look With Your Heart Next time you look at someone, before you criticize, Look a little deeper, look into their eyes. Do not look at the outside whether old or in their youth, Study their expression for it is there that holds the truth. Do not judge the clothes they wear, they may be old and worn, They may also have a heart that is sad, broke and torn. Perhaps they may be happy, loud, colorful and gay, But if you look a little closer, they may have seen a better day. Do not turn your back on people begging in the street, If you do not have money then a smile would be a treat. They may have lost a loved one or suffered in another way, All it takes is kindness to help them through the day. Next time you look at someone, before you criticize, Remember it is better, to look with your heart, not your eyes. Lines 14 First place in traditional poetry contest, August 2013. |
