The Hive’s Last Stand So the ancient fig wasp, mean bees that attacks them fig trees . . . lived tens of millions of years before the figs were even here. The figs were here a long time ago, branching in more ways than we know, over days and months and millenium time-- changing only with the ching of a chime. Not all species deteriorate with age-- a discovery that has brought back the thinking sage, for the stopping of deterioration should challenge our theoreticians, not to mention the theory, what we have all argued over since before roe v wade . . . that evolution thing we worshiped, to the chagrin of some irksome bishops. But astronauts hope to grow lettuce, on the moon, which proves we can go to Mars someday soon. And as we conquer space, a super race, we need to save old Theo’s face. For back when rules were carved in granite, back when Pluto was still a planet, a man proposed a celestial globe, and we killed Galileo, though we kept his scope. For we have always been 100% sure, in the myths which we have rest assured. From the gods to God to the godless theory, we’ve argued their veracity, with a certain fury. But as time ticked reality sticked, and we learned the error of our supposed ways, and we saved our face and we ate our pride, like bees saving the old bee hives! Them bees, they know their q's and p's. And they know them without religious beliefs. They just follow their hearts and always do-- well, they do what the hive wants them to. And the hive has fought the damned disease, that has killed so many twenty-first century bees, wiped out much of the hive that would normally be, cross-pollinating the flowers with those darn fig trees. But the hive, it stands, alone but alive. Could care less about theories contrived. Proudly buzzing, at our surprise, amazed now, that it even survived-- Long live the hive! Long live the hive! Long live the hive! |
