A poem about the ghosts of the high seas. |
We're slowly rocking side to side, darkness on the shore where our fears hide The deep rumble goes through my legs, almost down to our last keg Morale is at an all time high, the crews dancing against the falling sky The smell of salt fills the air, it's a paradise without a care Shots ring in my ears, as we celebrate the passing year Smoke from the cannons creates a ghastly show, as we raise anchor, dingy in tow We plot a course for mother ocean, as the sails are set into motion I'm a captain in my prime, and as we sail I lose all track of time The endless cycle of the sun and moon, I just hope to be with you soon On the horizon a ships in sight, we make haste to start a fight We begin to fire across their bow, they're as good as dead now The thunderous cheer of the crew, as the enemies ship starts to spew Another easy battle won, the bounty shimmers against the sun We say a prayer for those who died, former crew mates and friends cried They are finally back at there homes, as Davey Jones looks over their sodden bones Death brings with it a heavy soul, as the waves against the ship takes its toll So we set course for home, leaving behind us a trail of foam We sail into the sunset, but I know you will be upset We will never make it back, maybe we came under attack Maybe we became one with the ocean, the water sheltering us with such devotion We sailed the seas in days of yore, and our story was turned into lore Mayhaps u will see us in the night, plundering and squabbling with ghoulish delight We haunt the seas searching for truth, trapped in the days of our youth We may give you a fright , but please hear our plight Let us sail the seas once more, and we will go back to just being lore. |
