Dear Phoebe

You don't know me but I've heard a lot about you. I also know a little girl should never have to endure what is going on with you. I know what you're going through because my niece had leukemia. The good news is that she is well. She is in complete remission. Her annual checks confirm this. I believe you will be in complete remission soon as well. I'm pulling for you and so is Kady, my niece. She was diagnosed at 13. She beat it and so will you. I know it is tough on you having to suffer through the humiliation of chemo and other things. I know the children around you can be vicious too. Remind them that they might be next. I truly believe that mean people have their meanness returned to them. You can also tell them that Santa knows when they're mean and he'll give them a lump of coal.

I have a suggestion for you. Have your parents check into the Make a Wish Foundation. Our Kady was granted an all expenses paid shopping trip with LeBron James of the Clevelannd Cavaliers. He went to her house, picked her up in his car, and they spent a whole day together. The foundation tries to grant any wish. Check into it.

I will have my church continue to pray for you. I believe in you. I know you can beat this.
