Contest entry Dear Me |
Dear Me, I'm writing to you because I think it's time someone took you to task. You have been a member of the WdC community for a number of years and have enjoyed reading the contributions of others and learning from the helpful newsletters. Yet you have contributed very little yourself. Shame on you! Your excuses don't cut it. Yes, you are a very senior citizen and are subject to many of the ills and inconveniences of old age but you could do better. Now is the time to write more, not less. I have devised a plan for you - not too hard or stressful. I have not set the bar too high because I want you to achieve what you set out to do. Firstly, recognize your weaknesses and try to build on your strengths by being open to criticism and suggestions for improvement without losing your own voice. These are conservative suggestions which, regardless of any problems which may arise, you should be able to follow up. Here they are: Write at least one review per week Enter at least two competitions per month Try three poetry forms which are new to you Draft a story or poem in a genre which you usually avoid. Work on this plan and have a successful writing year. Sincerely yours, Your alter ego, Alexandra |
