My thoughts while watching a cat
What Makes a Cat

What makes a cat?
Is it the ears perking to listen
Maybe it’s the fur it cleans
So that it sometimes glistens.

What makes a cat?
Is it the soft purr it emits
Or the playful chase of a mouse
As it runs around in frenzied fits?

What makes a cat?
Is it the eyes that watch every move
Or the tail switching back and forth
As if it’s got something to prove?

Maybe it’s all of these traits
All rolled into one.
What makes a cat is these
And with that this poem is done.
