TODAY'S PROMPT:
I’m en route to a cake decorating class. So, use the words:

Cake
Buttercream
Decorating
Flowers

But make sure this piece is not about food. Please bold the words for tomorrow’s judge!

I can easily see why the first thing somebody would think of when reading these prompt words would be food. However the prompt words put me to mind of some flowers that grows here in West Virginia each spring. I'm sure the flowers grow in several states actually but they are the first flowers to grow in the spring. My mom always called them Easter lilies though I am sure that isn't the proper name for them. Some others call them buttercream flowers and butter cups, but I have never had anybody tell me definitively what the actual name of the flowers are. I just know that when you see them you know that it is officially spring. There may be more winter like weather because these flowers will actually withstand snow but they are a sure sign of spring. When I see them I know it is a given that spring is here. I always look forward to seeing them bloom in the spring because winter is one season I do not care for. When these mystery flowers bloom I know I will soon be eating birthday cake because they appear about five to six weeks ahead of my birthday. I usually gather several of them to use as decorations in my room because they are the first sign of new life in the spring. I love decorating with them to remind myself that the drudgery of winter is now over. It is amazing how a simple little flower can lift ones spirits! These beautiful buttercream like flowers are a balm to sore eyes each spring. If I had my way they would grow all winter long because then we could have our cake and eat it too as the old saying goes. If anybody knows the official name of these beautiful flowers be sure and let me know. I'd be interested in knowing it. During the meantime I will continue to call them Easter lilies because they usually appear around Easter. .I will continue decorating my yard and my room with them.
