One small thing that I've noticed while reading fantasy books is that the use of colloquialisms from our world is a little distracting while reading. It can take a person out of the world you have created, maybe not a lot but i think it can make a rather large impact.
imagine reading a scene where the heroes are in a cave and they here a loud clattering and its getting louder. would it be better for one of the heroes lets say a dwarf to yell
"What in the actual FUCK is that noise?!"
or
"What is that racket! its worse then the smiths hammer after a night of drinking"
The first is something said in our world but would be out of place in a high fantasy setting. and to me seems to be lazy writing. it shows a lack of thought into a world you created, a world that would have its own colloquialisms
