Taking life's hits, but continuing to go on. |
Sometimes, it feels like your world is crashing all around you. Do not panic. It probably is, but you are not crashing, and that is the most important thing to remember. Also, know that YOU will get through the crash in a much better position. How can I say that? Very easily. For the past several weeks, I have felt and seen my world go topsy-turvy -- in December alone, death claimed by play-brother, Barry Francis, my Aunt Marcia, my first cousin Della, and my son spent the last days 0f 2019 in the hospital. And, none of those incidents speak to the rest of my life that had to continue, and yet, today, I stand stronger than I was yesterday. I still have my sight, even though my eye is swollen. I still have my health, even though I am a little rest broken. I have a roof over my head and a car for transportation. There is food in my kitchen with a working stove to cook it on. The water is running, and so is the electric. Do I need some repairs at my home? Lord, yes, I do. My house was built in 1904, and it is beginning to tell its age. My point, life will go on, and you will overcome these periodic crashes that seem to throw you for a loop. When you are at your wit's end, remember that you are being carried so you can go the distance. You do not have to be strong all of the time. You can cry, and yes, screaming can sometimes feel so much better. DO IT! Let it all out. Don't have a stroke or heart attack, trying to prove how strong you are or how broad your shoulders are. The stress is not good for you or your body. No, we do not have perfect children, most of them are just like we used to be -- growing up and invincible. Their mortality has not set in. Their bones don't ache. They are still able to party all night and make it to work on time tomorrow. Smile at them and know that their day will come too, and they will understand it better by-and-by. Oh yes, they will crash around us also, and almost snatch out our hearts. When that happens, hang onto the words of my grandson that were given to me a few weeks ago -- "Grandmother, there is nothing that you can do about it, so get some control over yourself, and do what you can while remaining calm and in control. That is how you can best help your son." So what is the message today when it feels like your world is crashing all around you? That's right--do not panic. It probably is, but you are not crashing, and that is the most important thing to remember. Also, know that YOU will get through the crash in a much better position. Peace and blessings always. P.S. I tried to crash, but God would not let me. A good cry made everything alright. |
