A tennis player's attempt to get back to court |
The seats remained mostly empty, filled only by a few workers of the ground and some people who did not really seemed to have come out of any interest in the game. Rohan stepped out on the grass court, after six years, six years of, imprisonment, battle in court and public, proving his innocence over and over. A battle which he had only won legally, his proof of innocence against the scam of fixing his matches had not got his fans back, had not got his supporters back, not brought the crowd to watch his comeback match in the tournament. The only person who had stood by him during this ordeal, who had refused to believe all the manufactured evidence presented, his first coach, mentor for life,Deepak, had forced him to take part in the tournament once more. "Rohan", Deepak had made him sit on the court "This court has been your life from the day I gave you the racquet" A fact the Rohan could not refute, he had lived, breathed and slept for the game. "You can not let anyone take away all your hard work" "But sir, I have hardly even held the racquet in six years" "Rohan, you dont have a chance of winning the tournament" Deepak put it honestly not mincing any words, as always. "But if you don't do it now, you will never be able to do it again." Rohan knew Deepak was right, he had to get back to the court, he had to win back his fans, he had to win against all of those who enjoyed watching his life fall apart. As he raised his racquet to serve again, memory of his name echoing in the stands came back flashing, which he promised himself to make true again.
