Sunshine tastes like fresh dew on a breezy morn
As delicate birdsong greets the rising sun
In the first rosy hues of a fair, new dawn
While crisp, green leaves dance on waking trees

It tastes like fried dough with powdered sugar
Bright, colorful cotton candy and salty fries
Among the myriad rides and games
Of the local summer carnival

Sunshine tastes like fruit pies and warm cookies
Hot dogs and hamburgers fresh off the grill
Corn on the cob and macaroni salad
As friends and family gather

Like lemon drops, butterscotch and saltwater taffy
Soda pop and ice cream sundaes with hot fudge
