Guided Meditation on Worship |
Image you’re walking on a beach. The sky is overcast and there's a slight chill in the air. It’s early morning, and you’re all alone. In the background are the sounds of waves and seagulls. You came here today because your heart is troubled. As you look around, you notice someone sitting on the rocks. You turn to leave but something holds you back. He seems familiar to you somehow. As you approach Him, you notice your new companion is holding a book. On the cover is the word WORSHIP. You look at Him curiously as He invites you to join Him. As soon as You hear His voice, you realize you are sitting with the Lord. You whisper, “I don’t feel worthy to worship You when I’m troubled.” He looks at you knowingly and opens the book to the first page. “What do you see?” He asks. “I see a heart,” you answer. He tells you it’s your heart. “Why is it so small?" you wonder. He smiles saying, “Because you are looking at it with your limited vision". “When I look at your heart, I see you worship Me every time you check on your neighbor or help a friend with a problem. I sense you worship Me every morning when you quietly meditate on my Word. I hear you worship Me when you cry in the night for help knowing and trusting that I will be there for you. I have seen and heard you worship Me with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind and all your strength. My child, in this world you will have trouble. But take heart, I have overcome the world. There’s nothing that you and I can’t face together. Lean on Me. I will never leave you nor forsake You.” He takes your hands in His and tells you there is nothing you can do that will ever change that. You kneel and bow in reverence and when you look up, His presence in your life is stronger than it has ever been--even though you no longer see Him sitting there. As you rise, you take the book He left for you. Opening it, you see your life in its pages, and you see Him standing next to you on every page. And you slowly walk toward the rising sun. |
