The Treasure

The room was dimly lit, the curtains drawn to keep the world outside at bay. Mark sat hunched over a table, his fingers tapping nervously on the worn wooden surface. Beads of sweat formed on his forehead as he glanced around the room, making sure no one was watching.

His wife, Sarah, watched him with a mixture of curiosity and concern. "Mark, what's going on? You've been acting strange all week."

Mark looked up at her, his eyes filled with a mixture of guilt and determination. "Sarah, I know where they hid it."

Sarah's brow furrowed in confusion. "Hid what, Mark?"

Mark leaned closer, lowering his voice to a hushed whisper. "The treasure, Sarah. The legendary lost treasure of Captain Blackbeard."

Sarah's eyes widened in disbelief. "You can't be serious, Mark. That's just a legend, a story."

Mark shook his head. "I've spent years researching, following clues, and deciphering old maps. I'm convinced it's real, and I know where they hid it."

Sarah hesitated, torn between her husband's obsession and her rational side. "Even if it exists, Mark, it's too dangerous. People have died searching for it."

Sarah sighed, conflicted. "Okay, where is it then?"

Mark smiled, relief washing over him. "It's on Skull Island, just off the coast. I've charted our course, and I've gathered a crew of trusted friends. We leave at dawn."

Sarah nodded, resigned. "I hope you're right, Mark, and that this treasure, if it exists, brings us the success you're looking for. Just promise me you'll be careful."

Mark squeezed her hand. "I promise, Sarah. This is our chance, and I won't let anything stand in our way."
