Janie posted a big sign on her bedroom door.

“Warning! Do Not Entr!”

Billy walked by as she finished taping it up.

“That’s crooked.”

"So what. And who asked you?”

Billy shrugged his shoulders, continued down the hall.

Janie checked her sign, lifted the tape and nudged the bottom right corner a smidge

“You misspelled a word.” Peter stood looking at her sign.

“What?”

“Just saying…” Peter walked by, on the way to the kitchen.

Janie muttered to herself, “Everyone’s a critic,” then got the marker from her room.

The sign now read “Warning! Do Not Entr! Enter!” She stood back and smiled.

Mom tapped Janie on her shoulder. “What’s so secret in there? What’re you hiding? And who said you could tape a sign to your door?”

“Umm, well, the boys always barge in. Nothing secret.”

“Good. Now take down that sign. If that tape messed with the wood, you’re in deep. Understood?” Mom continued down the hall, on the hunt for Janie's two brothers.

Janie peeled back tape from four corners of the sign, stomped into her room. She found some old socks, tied them together and made a rope for her doorway. The sign hanging from it now said “Welcome to My She Shed”.

Billy and Peter stopped in front of her door.

They chanted, “She sheds her dreads on her bed with her head on a spread!” Laughter filtered down the hall as they ran to Peter’s room.

“You’re just jealous. Morons!” Janie laid back on her pillows. “Yep, the queen will now be able to receive visitors.”
