A Villanelle poem. See after the poem for format information.
Mail thy love to me.
In hopes of meeting thee tonight,
this token is left for thee.

'Tis small in stature, yet do agree,
its measure doth exceed my might.
Mail thy love to me.

My fervent wish would truly be,
please take this bloom plucked fresh and bright.
This token is left for thee.

And in its place leave word from thee,
a sign, a note that thou would write.
Mail thy love to me.

Please say that thou would come to see,
this humble waif at eve's first light.
This token is left for thee.

Thy answer's swift I must agree,
a plain gray box, a gate so right.
Mail thy love to me.
This token is left for thee.

Author Note: A Villanelle is a nineteen-line poem consisting of a very specific rhyming scheme: aba aba aba aba aba abaa.

The first and the third lines in the first stanza are repeated in alternating order [as the third line of each stanza] throughout the poem, and appear together in the last couplet (last two lines).
