A Poem about my Cat and what she did for me. |
Spot Pets were something I never considered-especially cats, I grew up on a farm where animals were meant for outdoors. Everyone has a purpose in life, animals were no exception, Cats were to aid humans and catch rats. My youngest son wanted a kitten for a little pet, He was responsible and knew what it took. Everyone has a purpose in life, the kitten was to open a closed heart, During her first night, she bonded with me and I became in her debt. She needed a name, I was given the job as I am the one she caught, Various names were tried-nothing quite fit her personality. Everyone has a purpose in life, at this time I needed a name, I noticed a mark on her forehead, so she was named Spot. Spot followed me everywhere, even the shower, As long as I was there, she was happy and so was I. Everyone has a purpose in life, Spot was my little shadow, At night, she began on my head for over an hour. Spot had her own place on my chair where she sat every night, Her favorite part of the day, however, was when I wrote on my computer. Everyone has a purpose in life, Spot helped me stay calm and focused, When I suffered three close family deaths, she always stayed within sight. Time is a relentless taskmaster and no one is spared, linespace:1.15}Her time was coming but I didn't want to admit it, it hurt too much. Everyone has a purpose in life, I needed to be strong for my little girl, I showed her how much I loved her, I was there, and I cared. It's been over thirty years since she moved to a better place, I miss our talks, her kisses, and the way she looked at me. Everyone has a purpose in life, she was sent to me, Someday I will see my Spot with her chubby little face. 28 Lines |
