I've guarded myself
Thoroughly and completely
And yet still you wait
Patiently
For me to offer what I can
I want to give all of myself
To you
But the words remain caught
In my throat
Wanting to be expressed
As something more than
A candy-coated version
Of my insecurities
Because you deserve
More than that
You deserve more
Than me
