A poem for my wife
I love the way your smile lights the room,
The warmth of your voice lifting every gloom.
I look at you and see a heart so full,
Overflowing with love, unbreakable, beautiful.

I see pictures from a time gone past,
A little one, hopeful, though love didn’t always last.
Yet still, there’s a light, a spark that endured,
A child so deserving, a soul so pure.

Now here you are, the woman I adore,
The one I cherish, now and evermore.
You deserve nothing less from this world,
Nothing less from me, my love unfurled.

Don’t let those who never raised you right,
Dim the fire that within you burns bright.
Don’t let those who can’t see your light,
Cloud your worth, or dull your sight.

Don’t let those who squander your time,
Turn your melody into a silent rhyme.
They cannot take what was always yours,
They can't define you or close your doors.

Their hands cannot give what is truly due,
Their hearts aren't worthy to judge what's true.
They fall short, they lose what they couldn’t hold,
It’s their loss to mourn, as your story unfolds.

As for me, that light shines bright,
Guiding my heart through the darkest night.
It's all I can see, a warmth I adore,
I bask in its glow, wanting nothing more.

I would travel to the earth’s farthest mile,
Just to see you bask in love’s endless smile.
To remind you each day, in all that I do,
That endless love is what you are due.
