A man reflects on his mistakes, losing the woman he loved when he needed her most. |
I held a heart once, warm and true, A love that painted my gray skies blue. Her laughter danced like morning light, Chasing away the shadows of night. But in my blindness, I could not see, The cracks that formed because of me. Unspoken words, a careless tone, I built a wall and stood alone. She reached for me through silent tears, Through quiet doubts, through growing fears. But my pride stood tall, a fortress high, And left her waiting beneath the sky. Then came the day, my moment of need, When life had left my soul to bleed. I called for her, my guiding star, But found her absence—a wound, a scar. It wasn’t her fault; it never was, She left for reasons my actions caused. A thousand whispers I chose to ignore, Until she walked through the closing door. Now the echoes haunt these hollow halls, Her name carved deep in the cold, bare walls. And every breath feels thin and frail, As I relive the ways I made her fail. If I could go back, erase the pain, Hold her hand in the falling rain, I’d trade the years, the dreams untold, For one last chance, her hand to hold. But time moves forward, relentless and cold, A lesson learned too late, too bold. For in her eyes, I saw the cost— The woman I loved, forever lost. |
