A poem about our late family pet, Whiskers, enjoying the holidays.
Cloaked in brown, black and cream,
The noble Warrior Queen silently gazes,
She blinks a solemn silent welcome,
From the tree skirt where she lay.

Too dignified to play with shiny orbs,
She merely observes the tree branches,
Confident in her supremacy she does not climb,
Nor attempt a higher vantage point.

Noble and confident feline supreme,
She discreetly grooms her fur,
Ignoring the merriment and discussion
Her senses tell her all is calm.

One of the Queen's human kittens,
Spies her as she moves to leave,
She allows her kitten to gather her
Giving her a safe trip to bed.

Tonight, here she will sleep,
Heedless of the strays and dogs,
No battles to fight, just being snug,
'Tis Christmas Eve after all.
