“Here you go! You can make me a house.” Joe unloaded a wheelbarrow. At least 25 pounds of dirty potatoes tumbled out. “Looks like you dug up your garden,” stated Mike. “Yep. Dug ‘em up yesterday. There’s a rumor going round that you can make a house from these.” Mike chuckled. “Say what?” “Yep, just heard it on NPR.” “You on drugs? Buy weed at the dispensary like all the rest?” “Mike, listen. You can take taters and dirt, mix ‘em up, and it’ll be as hard as concrete.” Coleen wandered over. “What’s with all the potatoes?” “Joe here states he can make a house with these. Heard it on ‘never practical radio’.” “Oh, on WNPR? I heard about this.” Coleen took a potato in one hand and picked up some dirt with the other. “Seems you can mix these two and the result is harder than any concrete known to man.” Joe smiled big. “See! Told ya.” “But it only works with Mars dust. Something about the composition of the red dirt on Mars.” Coleen tumbled the potato over and over with the dirt. “So, take those potatoes up to Mars, Joe. You can make yourself a nifty house. You could call it a ‘tater igloo’. And when you get hungry, it would give a whole new meaning to the saying ‘eating yourself out of house and home’. Coleen laughed as she walked away. “Hey, bring back that potato! I’ll need it to finish my house!” Joe shouted. Coleen lobbed the potato over the fence. “Tater igloo indeed. I think it’s going to be a Mars Mansion!” Joe bragged as he caught the potato. W/C 275 |
