The Empty Space Beside Me
I held the world in trembling hands,
A fragile hope, like shifting sands.
But now the weight, it pulls me down,
Your voice is gone, and I might drown.
The streets are cold, the nights so bare,
Your laughter lingers in the air.
A memory cuts, sharp and deep,
I clutch my chest, I cannot weep.
I see your face in every crowd,
A phantom's grin, a voice too loud.
But when I reach, you’re never there,
Just echoes fading in despair.
You were my anchor, my guiding star,
Now lost to shadows, gone too far.
The world still turns, but I stand still,
An empty space, a hollow will.
If I could speak to you once more,
Undo the fate that closed this door,
I’d hold your hand, I’d keep you near,
And chase away this endless fear.
But all I have is this heavy pain,
A storm that beats like endless rain.
And though you're gone, your light remains,
A bond unbroken by these chains.
