With Mother’s Day in a month, I want to give the men out there something to think about.
Ephesians chapter 5, verses 25 and 28 tells us how we are to love our spouses. “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself."

The phrase "even as" in verse 25 translates 'the same as' or colloquially speaking 'just like'. Love is not an emotion based on feelings or circimstances, it is a commitment to abide by regardless or in spite of how one feels, thinks, senses or considers another person. It is not an on-again-off-again thing driven by our desires to please or conditional situations. It is a total 100% dedication to honor, respect, cherish, protect, guard, guide and standby our spouse the same as Christ stood by the church (believers) and gave the ultimate sacrifice for.

So ask yourself this: Do I love my spouse as completely as Christ loves me, or do I allow emotions to cloud my judgement and regulate my commitment to them?

If you're not sure, then ask yourself this: Would I be happy if Christ only loved me when He felt like it or when I was "good"? Would I be satisfied if God only shared His love with me when I am serving Him or sitting in church, and not while I am at the game or relaxing at the beach?

God is a fulltime God and His love is always present, and so should ours to those we love, especially our spouses.
