Bilson and Dent catch a perp. 300 words |
Welfare Check “Nobody’s home,” Bilson said to his partner Dent. “I’ll see if there’s a back door, you keep knocking and ringing the bell. I’ll radio you if I need you.” Dent said. Bilson peered into the sidelight windows on the door. He saw nothing and nobody, then he blinked. “I think I just saw a shadow move from the kitchen past the door.” “So, there is someone in there, could you tell if it might be the Sandra Newel we’re supposed to be checking on?” “Nope, should we force the door?” Bilson wondered. “Let me try what I was going to do originally first,” Dent suggested. Bilson nodded and watched Dent disappear down the side drive toward the back of the house. Pressing his nose to the side lights, he scanned near the door. A dog popped up suddenly barking frantically. “Time to see what’s going on,” Bilson muttered. He broke the glass with his night stick and unlocked the door. As he stepped in the dog, grabbed his pant leg and began pulling him. When he saw what was in the bedroom that the dog led him to, he shakily began to radio his partner. “I got him,” Dent said before he could speak. “I found out what he did,” Bilson said back. “Let’s call it in,” they said together. “I’ll do it, Dent. You seem to have your hands full.” He called for back-up and EMTs. When the unconscious women covered in blood was treated then taken to hospital, Bilson joined Dent at the back door. The two of them manhandled the suspect into their patrol car and started for the station. “Get anything out of him?” he asked Dent. “All he keeps saying is women like that deserve it!” “I don’t understand. Let’s find out more.” |
